Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long does the Kennel Inn keep animals?
A: According to the Provincial Laws under the Pound Act the Kennel Inn is only required to "hold" animals for 72 hours ( 3 days). However, the Kennel Inn has extended this retention period to 10 days to allow more time for an owner to be found. The animals are then assesed and placed into our adoption centre. We also work very closely with Rescue Groups and Veterinary Clinics to find these animals their forever loving homes. Visit our Adoption Centre at 14378 Yonge Street in Aurora, Ontario.
Q: I have found a stray animal, what should I do?
A: Never try to handle an animal that you are unfamiliar with. Remember not to feed stray animals as they may be someone elses pet and on a special diet. Once a stray animal has found a sustainable source of food, water and shelter it will never leave. Contact your Animal Control Centre Imediately to have the stray picked up.
Q: I suspect my neighbours are mistreating their animals, Who do I call?
A: The O.S.P.C.A is designed to assist abandoned, neglected and abused animals. Contact the O.S.P.C.A at 1-888-668-7722 and ask to speak to the investigations department if you suspect foul play. Animal Cruelty is a Crime!

Fun Feline Facts
Did you know?: The average number of litters a fertile cat can produce in one year is 3. The average number of kittens in a feline litter is 4-6. In seven years, one female and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats!
To help local animal shelters control the pet population please have your pets spayed or neutered. Remeber to contact Animal Control immediately if any stray cats are spotted in your area as they too are a contributing factor to the over population of pets and over crowding at shelters.
